Description
OK - Here we go....
Finally...
At last, here's page 5 in the continuing adventures of the T.N.A. Girls. These should be coming a lot sooner now.... Since I'm back from my "hiatus..." I was planning on it being two weeks, but of course it's stretched into just over three.
Yeah.... I think what I need now is a hiatus from my hiatus. Not terribly restful, but I did get a number of things accomplished. I got my store on Pixels re-opened. I did a lot of re-organizing of the massive amount of files, images, reference material, tutorials, photos, writings, Word files, PDFs, etc, etc buried in multiple hard drives. And of course, dealt with a fair share of the continuing weirdness that is my life.
Such as:
Last week (just before I was going to come back), DAZ Studio took a giant poop on top of my head. I tried to open it up on the machine I recently upgraded with a 2TB M2 SSD specifically for DAZ. It kept throwing a "postgreSQL connection cannot be established" error at me. Which of course means I couldn't do much more than a few very basic things with it. I fought it for most of an afternoon without success. I tried updating the DIM, but every time I did it told me I needed to install it.. WTF?? And it didn't fix the problem.
Finally after hours of mucking around with it, decided to just uninstall it and start from scratch. Windoze did the uninstall, but oddly the DS and DIM icons were still on the desktop. What the?? I right-clicked the icon and looked at the path - it was referencing one of the other drives in the computer. Yep, sure enough, there was the older DS where I didn't remember it being, nor where I wanted it. And there were at least 6 or 7 instances of the DIM. I finally said "screw it" after my buddy Jay (WP Guru) said the universe was trying to tell me something... 😆
I ended up manually going through the entire system and getting rid of anything DAZ (all my content i.e. "my DAZ3D Library" is safely backed up on another drive). Now, all I need to do is download and install a fresh version of DS. Maybe next week.
Then - as if that wasn't enough - I decided to go ahead and do the update to the latest and greatest version of Photoshop CC. My CC app has been bugging me for weeks to update. I've been using CC 2019 on my main machine (I use it to assemble these TNA pages), and 2020 on the laptop.
After updating, I discovered that.... SURPRISE!! Now my pen sensitivity on my Cintique no longer works! Not only that, but the latest versions of Photoshop has the open GL functionality disabled! Which means no 3D functions work, rotating the image doesn't work, and several other features no longer work. WTF, Adobe?? Why in the seven hells would they do that??
Anyway, I spent most of the day yesterday on-line with Adobe's tech support people trying to get things worked out. It took hours and by yesterday evening I was ready to go out and kill something, but between some guy named Shmieer or something like that - using remote assistance - and me we managed to get the pen sensitivity working. As a bonus, he showed me how to go back and re-download and install CC 2019, and keep both it and the new version. So - despite my head exploding at least 16 times - I now have the best of both worlds!
Which means - hopefully - that I'll now be able to bring you these pages in a more expedient manner. Just as soon as I scrape my brains off the wall, and get them back where they're supposed to go! What's left of them, anyway..
And if you've read all this you deserve a medal. Or at least a cuppa coffee..
As always, thank you so much for stopping by, and for all your awesome comments and support!
I'll be adding more credits shortly..

Glad to see this resume, they'll need to hurry but I guess they know that. Good luck to them.
Your Photoshop and DAZ Studio stories make me glad I'm still using Photoshop CS3 and CS2 and Poser 8...

Wait need to take an other sip of coffee ... Mmm. Yeah Daz install, it really doesn't like to be where you want it, isn't it? What a pain. Glad you didn't use 'the gentil persuader' on the machines. Dang, got to refill.... Great story and render.

Another fantastic chapter in the girls' story! Love all the fine illustrations and dialogue! Looking forward to more. I really enjoyed the cup of coffee you gave me while I was reading about all your troubles. If you had brains to scrape off the wall, you are in way better shape than me. I've been crippling along (like I tell my wife) on a half of a fourth of an eighth of an iota of one malfunctioning brain cell for most of my life! LOL! But I digress. Glad you seem to have maintained some of your sanity! Keep up the great work you do!

These computers can be so frustrating =). But man when they do as they should what absolute fun!

daggerwilldo () 9:47PM | Tue, 01 September 2020
I did read it and itβs a tale that I think we all have or will go through. If there is a lesson to be learned here it is to back up often and make images often. You are To be commended for not shooting a computer or pitching it in the trash. Glad things are going better. Good luck with the rest of what youβve got to get done.

Stunning my friend

Ugh I hope you get your issues sorted, Rod. With all the time we spend rendering, that's a sure way to ruin it, when Daz goes wrong. ON the plus side, I love this series of yours. Very sad to see the avenging friend injured here, I had hoped she'd kick the arse of the kidnapper, but... maybe down the line? Wonderful work. :)

A lot of action going on in this one, or the aftermath of action, the unwanted kind.

goldie () Online Now! 11:44AM | Wed, 02 September 2020
Glad to see you're back. The excellent posing and detail coupled with the fast moving dialogue make this an amazing installment. You've topped yourself, Rod. As for your computer problems, it's the old can't live them but can't live without them story. If it's not one thing it's something else with these dang contraptions. Your "sticktuitiveness" luckily paid off.

eekdog () Online Now! 7:29PM | Wed, 02 September 2020
